Macchi MC 200 "Saetta", an Italian Royal Air Force Nitro Gas Radio
Controlled Warbird Plane
The Italian MC 200
Fighter is a Radio Control Model Airplane WARBIRD designed for new and
established scale modelers--anyone who doesn't have time to create scale detail
from scratch. Its computer-simplified design brings the most popular WWII
fighter to life with unparalleled building ease and authenticity.
Developed in the mid-1930s for the Italian Royal Air Force (Regia Aeronautica),
the "Saetta" was one of the principal fighters with which Italy entered the
Second World War. The prototype made its first flight in December 1937, and by
Italy's entry into World War II in June 1940 some 156 were in service. The
MC-200 was first employed against the British at Malta and eventually saw
service in Greece, North Africa, Yugoslavia, and the Soviet Union. Saettas were
employed against U.S. forces in North Africa and over Italy itself. A total of
1,151 were produced.
